Golf and Food Babies

in All Posts

As the day has progressed, my left knee has felt worse and worse.  It’s completely shredded, and the elliptical or bike was impossible.  I still managed to fit in some activity, though!

Lunch was light and delicious:

I had a veggie burger on an English Muffin with mustard and spinach, plus a side of melon, cucumber slices, and a fruit leather from TJ’s.

My activity of the day was…. golf!

CIMG3841

The Husband is an excellent golfer and is getting back into the sport, so we went to the driving range and hit a few balls.  I’m actually not that bad, either! :)  I think it’s in my blood… both of my grandpas were excellent golfers.  Hopefully, the Hus and I will have Tiger Wood babies.

Mid-afternoon snacks included: crackers and cheese….

And apricots and a raw ball from Abbie

My second activity of the day included 20 push-ups while watching the Ironman 70.3 Triathlon.  It was in Clearwater, Florida, so I recognized a bunch of the sites!  I felt like a bum just sitting on my couch, so I busted out some push-ups while the professional ladies hammered out a half marathon in 1 hour and 20 minutes — WOWZA!

The Hus and I had a romantic dinner at Tony Roma’s.  This was our "secular Easter dinner." CIMG3863

The Hus ordered potato skins and I tried one:

He ate the remaining 8! 🙂

We also split a dinner salad:

And I got the filet mignon and broc.  I asked the waitress to hold the butter on both the steak and the veggies, and my entree felt much healthier as a result.  I ate 4 oz. of this 8 oz. filet:

I didn’t even feel stuffed until it came time for dessert.  We ordered three "mini" desserts, thinking that this would just allow us to "taste" the desserts.  UMMMMM — these are NOT mini desserts:

The mini desserts included a raspberry brownie with ice cream:

Key Lime Pie tart:

And apple crumble a la mode:

All the desserts were soooooo good, but I tried to pace myself and let the Husband consume most of the desserts.  Somehow, we managed to clean the plates!

Ugh! I feel like I’m going to have a food baby.  In fact, I think its twins.

Have a wonderful Sunday evening, and I’ll see you bright and early for a brand new week.

Goodnight!

Your secular dinner looks amazing. I’m glad you celebrated with such tasty things.

And I’m also glad that you also get irritated with proselytizers along the race course. Should we ever run a race together, I think we should make faces at them.

  • just me April 12, 2009, 5:37 pm

    great way to celebrate easter!

hope your knee feels uber better soon!

  • Nancy April 12, 2009, 6:19 pm

Guys I don’t mean to be gross but does “food baby” refer to the way your stomach looks after a big meal or to a bathroom experience? lol just a bit confused!

  • Lauren April 12, 2009, 6:26 pm

    Hey Caitlin,

Sorry to hear that your knees are still bothering you. Make sure you get some good R&R this week! 🙂

Also, thanks for getting back to me on the HRM questions I had. I guess I must have been misunderstand when I was reading about them. Oh well, I still love my Polar. I guess I will just have to use good old math to track my distance. Or I may take your suggestion and give Google Earth a try.

Thanks so much!! Hope you have a lovely week. 🙂

nancy – haha a food baby refers to the fact that i stuffed my face so much i look like i am pregnant. but eventually, i suppose that the food baby turns into the toliet baby. ew, gross! 🙂

  • Nancy April 12, 2009, 6:36 pm

hahaha well hey they say once you have the baby, all the discomfort goes away so go for it! 😉

  • livelaughlyss April 12, 2009, 6:50 pm

I love that you are wearing flats at the range, I am known for wearing flip flops on the course bc I think they are more comfortable! Lets just say the guys I work with think I am ridiculous…

  • eatingbender April 12, 2009, 9:53 pm

Haha, I definitely had a food baby after brunch today.

I loooove golf! It’s in my blood as well – both of my parents love it (my mom is like a 5 handicap…she is my idol) so our family of four plays whenever I’m home! It’s really an amazing sport – I personally think your form looks great :o)

    Those desserts are mouthwatering!
