Job Titles and Lunch Breaks

in All Posts

I really look forward to my lunch break, even if I eat lunch at my computer desk.    When I worked in the office and not from home, I would eat with  my coworkers in the lunchroom.  But now I don’t see any point to stepping away from work to eat by myself.

I satisfied my growing hunger/boredom with a juicy orange at 11 AM.  I’m going back to mid-morning snacks because I realized that I’m wayyyy too hungry in between breakfast and lunch.

Lunch was very delicious, and it was FAST!

CIMG1584

I made a chicken deli meat sammie with a leftover WW hot dog bun from the Superbowl.  It also had cheddar cheese and mustard inside.

A side salad

And a pickle with some dates (weird flavor combos!)…

    Job titles I have held:

Stable assistant – I helped teach horseback riding summer camps and exercised all of the horses when camp wasn’t in session. I did a lot of work at the stable and “horse sat” multiple times.

Hot walker – I worked at a horse racetrack. I basically walked horses around in circles after workouts, after races, and on their days off. I also took horses to the paddock for races.

Broodmare caretaker – I don’t know my real title… but I worked in the foaling barn at a big Thoroughbred breeding farm. I was one of 4 girls who took care of broodmares who were about to foal and those who had just had foals. The babies are the best!!

Vet Clinic Receptionist – scheduled, answered phones, checked in patients, etc… not the greatest job. Some people should not have pets! haha

And now I am back to being a student… and hope to one day be an Equine Therapist (physical therapy for horses)

After reading your comment to Leah regarding your kennel assistant position, I wanted to say that I worked as a Veterinary Assistant for 8+ years. Yes, it is a physically challanging job, but it also takes mental stamina to by on your toes in a emergency. It also is very rewarding at the end of the day to know you helped make thins a little bit better for pets and their owners.
