Thai-ed Together at the Hip

in All Posts

Evening!  Woah — work was a doozy today.  Is it really only Tuesday??

Mid-day snacks included yogurt and granola…. and the absolute freshest blueberries ever!

CIMG1315

I dunno what was with me, but I was starving by 4:30. Like, full-on tummy noises.  SOMEONE hide the WHOLE BOX of Carr’s Crackers (grrrrr) so I resorted to Grape Nuts cereal.

CIMG1316

It was just a tiny portion, but I really don’t know what I was doing eating something with so much fiber in it 1.5 hour before a run.

My post-work run was very nice and light (only 4.0 miles), which is always FUN!  When you run 10.0 miles on a Sunday and then 4.0 miles two days later, it feels like a freaking breeze!  Loved it.

The shoe-stretching debate goes on… my feet felt a lot better, but I still had toe pain.  I’m not sure if it’s residual toe pain or if the shoes are still aggravating me.  The store I bought them at is clear across town, so it’s a headache to get over there — I’m going to try to go SOON, but I just don’t know if they will take them back after I’ve logged like 35 miles in them.

Here are my statistics:

  • Duration: 36 minutes
  • Average Heart Rate: 150 bpm
  • Maximum Heart Rate: 191
  • Calories Burned: 305

I rushed home to shower and get dressed, as Husband and I had a date at our favorite Thai restaurant, the Royal Thai.

CIMG1337

It’s not the prettiest place, but the food is AMAZING!   Look, it even has a heavenly neon-glow to it!  We started with amazing spring rolls.

CIMG1331

And I got chicken cashew nut for my main dish.

CIMG1333

I ate about 2/3 and all of this fluffy white rice.

CIMG1334

Delish!

CIMG1335

Then, we came back to the house for PRESENT TIME!!! We haven’t exchanged presents in one and a half years (to save money for the wedding since we got engaged), so I was super pumped to give and receive presents for our anniversary!

Unfortunately (fortunately?)…. I got Husband 1 gift, and he gave me 5!! Haha. Man… I got some good stuff!  A new running skirt, a The Office daily calendar, movie tickets….

CIMG1356

A dessert wine…

CIMG1352

A new PURSE! It’s a Tignanello from Macy’s.

CIMG1354

Yay!

Poor Husband only got a University of Pittsburgh basketball jersey.  But he seemed pretty excited about it!  I think I need to step up the game for Valentine’s Day. 🙂

Have a wonderful evening! Sleep tight.

  • Mrs. LC January 27, 2009, 7:42 pm

oo fun gifts! And yes, you may want to step it up for V-Day. 😉

I mentioned you on my blog tonight — I thought of you several times today, every time I heard a Britney song!!

  • Meghann January 27, 2009, 7:42 pm

You need to take me back to Royal Thai sometime! Love the new running skirt.. now you have 2! He knows your so well.

I’ll be over tomorrow, I’m still debating whether it will be before or after dinner, I guess it depends on how hungry I am when I leave work. 🙂

Its a Tignanello from Macy’s. My last purse was a Tignanello as well — they are great quality for a reasonable price.

I think chicken cashew nut is my favorite Thai dish!! I usually ask them to cook it with the flat rice noodles instead of rice on the side and it is divineeee!

  • brandi January 27, 2009, 7:51 pm

I love the Thai heavenly glow 🙂

I have that Office desk calendar – it makes every day at work better!

  • girlrunningaround January 27, 2009, 7:52 pm

-Mmmm, I love Thai food. We actually learned how to make traditional cashew nut chicken on our honeymoon. 🙂
-Most running stores will take shoes back for 30 days, even if they are worn. I would call and check.
-Your Hubby is great at gift giving! What a catch!

  • Meg January 27, 2009, 7:55 pm

What a wonderful celebration! Sweet gifts!

  • Laughing Lindsay January 27, 2009, 7:55 pm

    Hey Girl,

Quick question.. what does consuming high fiber content do to our body if we run soon after?

I do this ALL the time and I’m slowly getting more and more of a sore stomach that lasts ALL day. This may be the prob but I thought I’d ask anyway.

Thanks. By the way, you STILL RULE.

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point January 27, 2009, 8:00 pm

    lindsey –
im not sure what exactly the mechanics of fiber in the tummy is, but i do know that while digesting fiber, our bodies produce gas, which causes discomfort and bloating ESPECIALLY while running.

the worst is when you shit yourself — that hasnt happened to me yet but im sure it will soon! 😛

  • K January 27, 2009, 8:03 pm

That food looks DELISH! How dare someone hide the crackers 😉

Yay for The Office calender and chic purse!

  • Olga January 27, 2009, 8:07 pm

And my roommate has that mug AND the phone next to it!

  • Laughing Lindsay January 27, 2009, 8:12 pm

I laughed so hard to your fiber answer that I officially knocked off crunches from the to do list. LOVE IT!

Hopefully cleaning shat on drawers won’t appear on my tomorrows to do list. Thanks for the help! haha!

  • Mica January 27, 2009, 9:15 pm

Awww, what sweet and thoughtful and cute presents! Good job, husband!

Mmm…thai food. I’ve always found that Asian restaurants with the weirdest decor (and a neon aura) tend to have the tastiest food.

  • Marissa January 27, 2009, 9:24 pm

    Cute gifts!

  • Sarah (lovINmytummy) January 27, 2009, 11:57 pm

Is it funny how the ease of runs is completely a matter of perspective based on where you are in your training? Love those mid range runs after the long runs!

    What a fantastic night!

And, funny as it is, like Mrs. LC, I think of you every time I hear Britney. She’s growing on me for the running tunes, though. I almost bought Circus tonight because that song keeps getting stuck in my head.

Is the whole CD run worthy, or just a few songs??

  • loveofoats.com January 28, 2009, 4:35 am

    Hi Caitlin,

I’m one of the lurkers, I guess. 🙂 Been reading your blog and noticed your shoe problem. I trained for the San Diego RnR Marathon last year, and one of my injuries (among many) was the one you think you have. I went to a podiatrist and he cut out a little u shaped pad, adhered it to my special insole, and never had problems since. It was like a little .50 cent miracle. I would highly reccommend seeing a foot doctor.

  • Kaye January 29, 2009, 4:27 pm

Is that a gewurzt? If it is…I LOVE it! I don’t treat it like a dessert wine, it’s so crisp and sweet all the time!
