A Change

in All Posts

Thanks for all your well-wishes on my latest running injury. I feel like I’m always hurting SOMETHING, and it’s very frustrating to me.  So, I appreciate the sympathy!

A lot of you emailed me or messaged me this AM to ask about your various shoe woes.  I have to say that if you are experiencing any pain, tingling, or numbness in your feet, your shoes probably don’t fit right.  That being said, I don’t think any runner expects their feet to feel WONDERFUL after 10 miles, but you know what I mean.

The more I run, the more I realize how important shoes really are for some people (like myself).  Again, a foot strikes the ground 800 times over 1 mile!  That’s a LOT of pounding.

On to food…

I decided to eat something besides a sammie for lunch today, because you all must be getting tired of staring at my sandwiches!

I had quinoa with pinto beans.  This combination was truly delicious!

And a big old salad.

I tried this new salad dressing… Organicville Sesame Tamari Vinegarette.

Bletch! Not impressed.  It was not very tasty.  I didn’t even finished the salad.

Dessert!

Yet another wedding favor bites the dust.  We’re almost done with the stash! 🙂

I’m going to try to make it to a spin class tonight…. we’ll see!

Have you heard about mercury in HFCS?  What do you think about the study?

    I love your sandwiches, Caitlin!
But the beans and quinoa look good too!

I hate buying a new dressing and not liking it! That’s prob. why I never buy them.

I hope your shoe situation goes well tonight and they let you return them! It seems like they would since they fit you for them…hopefully!

Your lunch looks great! What a great change!

    Hang in there, Caitlin!!

Mmm, beans & quinoa – delish!!

  • Mrs. LC January 28, 2009, 11:11 am

I saw that HFCS/ mercury article yesterday – I think they need to do more research (to the point where they can release the products that contain traces of mercury). But in general, it’s just more reasoning to avoid HFCS!! (I seriously hate those HFCS commericals where they almost make it sound good for you: “It’s made from corn”…bletch).

Sorry about the new pain! What a, well, Pain to have to try and take your shoes back. Good luck!

    Lunch looks good!

I just read that HFCS article today.

Those commercials infuriate me! Yes, it’s “fine in moderation” – the only problem? If you’re not looking for it, you’re probably getting more than you should or more than you think you’re getting.

I mean, it’s in applesauce now!

on the HFCS, I agree with Mrs. LC completely. Need more researched and I HATE the commercials… lies, lies, lies.

My mom sent me that mercury + HFCS article. I agree with Mrs. LC – more research is needed but it’s definitely an eye opener and gives me even more incentive to avoid the products with HFCS in them! If it proves time and time again to be true, it’s really going to piss me off.

Love the new blog title, very inventive. Seeing your wedding favor reminded me, we’re going to San Francisco for our honeymoon in June and I wanted to know if you (as a foodie) have any great tips on places to visit.

Did you put any sort of seasoning on the pinto beans and quinoa? I have both in my pantry and it looks like a great, quick meal.

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point January 28, 2009, 7:53 pm

Amie – Nope!! Pepper would’ve been good, though!

  • Sarah W. January 29, 2009, 6:10 am

    quinoa is my fav!

if you’re looking for a colorful variation on the quinoa, my hubby likes to cook it in veggie broth and add sauteed chopped onion, mushroom, and peas 🙂
