Sunday Funday

in All Posts

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. SUNDAY! The great day of rest.  We never made it through all the TV shows we intended to watch last night, because by 11:00 PM—I WAS BEAT!  I slept for 11 hours!

I am only slightly sore from my 15K race.  Whatever was/is wrong with my right leg isn’t entirely healed, and it just felt a little wonky when I woke up. It’s almost to the point that I’m so paranoid that something is wrong with it that I’m imagining all sorts of twinges and twitches.

Breakfast was Uncle Sam Original cereal, NF plain yogurt, and a banana.  And coffee, of course!

I’m so obsessed with bananas.  As summarized in this article, bananas are actually perfect fuel for runners.  "Potassium is a mineral that works with sodium (also a mineral) to balance the fluids and electrolyte levels in your body. And since steady fluid levels help to regulate your heartbeat and prevent muscles from cramping, potassium is of particular importance to runners."

Uncle Sam’s Original cereal is not only insanely cheap ($2.99 a box), but it also features an extremely short ingredient list, whole grains, and flax seeds.

Flax is a great source of Omega-3s, magnesium, fiber, and folate.  I really love Uncle Sam’s Original cereal, however, whole flax seeds are not digestible and the body merely "passes" the seeds without absorbing most of their benefits.  So Uncle Sam’s in kind of engaging in false advertising.  Oh well! It’s still yummy. 🙂

Plans, Plans

Our plans for today include going to the gym (I’m going to do non-running cardio to give my leg a break), making a trip to Costco, and working on our side business (an online holistic supplement store that will hopefully be live soon!).

Future Husband and I were wondering if you guys would be interested in seeing a video of him giving me acupuncture.  The philosophy behind it is so interesting, but he knows so much more than I do (obviously) and could explain it much better!

Also, he could tell you about the location of certain points that are beneficial for runners.  Even if you don’t actually needle these points, you can apply pressure with your hands and see similar physical benefits

Would you be interested in this? Let me know!

Have a wonderful day!
