Pigskin

Our dinner plans were canceled, so Future Husband and I decided to get a nice workout in.  But we're so sick of the gym!  We played a little pigskin instead. We went to a nearby park and played catch for 22 minutes.  I wore my heart rate monitor and tried to keep my heart rate [...]

Not Much

Not much has happened so far today--just slugging away at work.  You know how Tuesdays roll. :)   Around 10:30 AM, I had my mid-morning snack.  I munched on a juicy pear and 1/4 cup cottage cheese. I've found pairing a fruit with some protein really ups the satiety of my snack.  Another good combo [...]

GOOD MORNING! I'm happy to report no leg pain this morning, besides the usual runner's soreness. :) It's looking good for the half marathon on Saturday!   I have this theory that if you wake up hungry, you didn't overeat the night before (within reason).  Now, I've been woken up in the middle of the [...]

YAY for Running!

I am so-so-so happy I was able to run tonight! I did a glorious 6.0 miles. It felt great to blow off some steam, too.  Mondays always get to me!   But first.... I had to wrap up work.  I needed a substantial snack around 2:00 and had yogurt + cereal (Uncle Sam's Original), topped [...]

Everything Tastes Better in Sandwich Form

Gotta make this snappy--work is INSANE today!   Around 10 AM, I had a mid-morning snack. I ate 1/4 of a cantaloupe.  It was about to go off, so it was now or never! Maggie helped me eat a lot of it -- she's such a vegetarian doggie. Lunch   A reader (Sarah) e-mailed me [...]

It’s What’s on the Inside that Counts

Presenting another ugly smoothie creation that looks disgusting, but tastes great.   I call it.... The Gray Monster!!  Grrrrr!!! :) With approximately 400 calories, 1 serving of veggies, 1 serving of fruit, over 18 grams of protein, and whole grain fiber.... the Gray Monster is sure to tame my hunger all morning long!   Ingredients: [...]

BBQ Based Stir Fry

We've been glued to the TV for hours watching a Heroes Season 2 Marathon.  TV marathons are much more relaxing than running marathons. :)   Future Husband offered to make dinner, and I jumped at the chance to stay out of the kitchen!  He decided to make a yummy stir fry with a twist. Instead [...]

Poor Planning

Hello! Good afternoon.  Today just seems to be slipping away... soon, it will be Monday again! Around 1 PM, Future Husband and I decided to go to the gym for some light cardio.  Before we left, I had a slice of WW toast and some PB. At the gym, I did some arm exercises (gotta [...]

Sunday Funday

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. SUNDAY! The great day of rest.  We never made it through all the TV shows we intended to watch last night, because by 11:00 PM---I WAS BEAT!  I slept for 11 hours!   I am only slightly sore from my 15K race.  Whatever was/is wrong with my right leg isn't entirely healed, and it [...]

The Perfect Baked Tofu and a TV Marathon

Good evening everyone!   Today was sooo relaxing.  After my morning post, Future Husband gave me some acupuncture, and then he gave me a Tui Na massage.   Tui Na is an ancient Chinese massage technique that's been around for over 2,000 years.  Tui Na massage removes blockages along the meridians of the body and stimulates [...]

Miracle Miles 15K

What a PERFECT race!! I BLASTED across the finish line at 1 hour, 27 minutes, and 15 seconds, SMOKING my time at last year's race by over 4 minutes!  AND, I'm even MORE excited to report that my leg did not bother me AT ALL! Yayyyyyy!   You can read Meghann's recap on her blog--I [...]

Pre-Race Date Night

Future Husband and I had a lovely 'date night' tonight.  In between the craziness of work, school, and life.... sometimes we forget to spend time together! :)   We went to Spice, which was lovely... we're thinking about hosting our rehearsal dinner there now, too!  We ate out on the patio overlooking downtown Orlando. I [...]

Healthy Hamburger Helper and Tips for Tapering

Good afternoon! My work day is flying by, so I've got to make my lunch break QUICK and get back to the grind!   Around 11:30, I had a small plum in my favorite dish. My lunch was a spur-of-the-moment recipe that tasted QUITE familiar--in fact, I'm going to call this Healthy Hamburger Helper! I [...]

99 Days

Tomorrow is RACE DAY! I am so excited for the 15K! It's looking like it's going to be perfect Florida "fall" weather for it, too. It's a little crisp out right now and there's no humidity.  Hopefully, it will be like this tomorrow when I'm pounding out 9.3 miles as fast as I can! :) [...]
